We were going to bed and all of a sudden Cam noticed liquid was coming out of the scar. A telephone call to NHS Direct (the nurses there are fab) and then a visit to Primary Care on Sunday sorted Cam out with some antibiotics which should hopefully sort him out and keep him out of hospital. He is quite bright in himself and recovering slowly, day by day, bless him.

I am trying hard to get on top of things buts its hard cos when I think I am getting their more stuff surfaces and adds itself to the list! Thats life though I guess. I really would like the feeling of being on top of everything though. Forgotten what that feels like!

We were due to go to Looe last Friday but obviously couldn't go as Cam isn't well enough yet. We are hoping for a holiday later in the year though so we aren't going to miss out completely and anyway it might be a good idea when its not so busy. Especially busy in Cornwall this year apparently due to the appearance of some Great White Sharks. Yikes!! Imagine that! When we go to Looe we always go out as far as we can into the sea and I can imagine how horrifying it would be to see a fin swimming close by. Blimey. I would have some serious laundry to do if that were to happen!!

I have managed a couple of crafty things this past week - just a couple of ticks off my crafty list........

The BF July ATC - theme of Initials. I had to do BF, didn't I !! These will be winging their way to Rosie when she is back of her hols - sorry for the delay folks......

and I managed a CJ entry for the Retailers UKS. This is for Julie and her theme was 'If I knew then what I know now....'.

I'm buggered if I can remember exactly what was on the little card inside the envelope! But it was something like:

If I knew then what I know now.......I would have lived harder and faster and taken more risks.

That old saying is so true: 'youth is wasted on the young'.

  Comments

My poorly baby boy........

Last Wednesday morning Cameron, my youngest son (age 9), woke me up at about 3am to say he had been sick. So the last three days of his school year were spent with Cam being sick and poorly. He complained of a stomach ache on the Friday which I attributed to the constant wretching of being sick. He still hadn't improved on the Saturday and had an awful grey/yellow tinge to his face and his breathing was very fast and shallow.

Firstly I rang NHS Direct and they told me to ring my doctor which I did. They told me to go straight to Primary Care at the hospital. My Dad took us both there as Darren was at work and was subsequently stuck in the floods until Monday evening! Upon further investigation the doctor thought it was his appendix. We were taken up to the childrens ward where Cam was prodded and poked by several more doctors through the course of Saturday afternoon. They all came to the same conclusion - Appendicitis.

Apparently they can't tell for sure until they do surgery and open up, but the symptoms were consistent with that of Appendicitis even though Cam was strangely absent of the huge pain associated with this! He was due for surgery at about 10pm Sat night and I was told that it would take about half an hour and some time in recovery. So I thought about an hour would do it.

They had warned me that the worse possible scenario was a perforated appendix and that this was very nasty and I knew is was potentially fatal too.

Two and a half hours later Cam was allowed back on the ward! Can you imagine what I was thinking during all this time - an whole hour and half over and above what they were all expecting. Apparently it had perforated and was very nasty indeed. They had to remove the appendix and totally clean out his insides to get rid of the pus......bleugh.....gag.

So, my poor baby has spent the past five days in hospital recovering from this. In all that time he hasn't once moaned about the pain. I am sure he must have a high pain thresh-hold because most people would be screaming in agony, spesh with a perforated one! Bless him. They were keeping a close eye on him as his temperature was quite high and there is always a risk of infection. I spent every day with him and he had lots of visitors which was great for us both!

Anyways, he is home now and resting in the front room. He has eaten well today, the most he has had for a whole week. We are having to keep an eye on his temperature though and if it shoots up we have to take him straight back into hospital.

I am so glad my baby boy is home.........
She was in lots of pain when we visited her in hospital but she is now home and recovering.

Darren has decided that this new job is not for him. There are no children in the home yet nor likely to be for several months, and he has decided to return to his old job. Luckily they still want him! Whatever makes him happy is fine by me. I have got a taste of having the car again though so I am looking out for a car of my own . Have spotted a few I like but no rush just yet. I will wait for the perfect one, with my name on it!

Had good school reports from all three kids. They are all so bright and doing so well, I am proud of them. Abi is constantly getting awards and headteacher commendations and merits and is very consistent. Always does her best. Jake needs to be pushed and reminded from time to time, bless him. He has had lots of merits too but on the flip side he has had points too. These are like de-merits and given out when things aren't up to scratch or when they have been 'naughty'. Jake isn't naughty as such, and his points have been given for things like chewing in class, forgetting his pens and pencils (!), shirt untucked, not taking his diary planner; little things like that. So its not as though he is naughty, just absent minded I think. Bless.

Mind you this came back to haunt him because last Friday a trip had been planned for all Year 7 students who had three points or less. It was a trip to Alton Towers, so a great fun day. Jake has eight points though and was unable to go. Shame. I did feel for him because all his mates were excited about the trip and Jake had to go to school. Hope he will learn a lesson. I doubt it though as his points were given for things he will find hard to change because its part of him. Abi has been at the school for three years and never got one single point. Jake has now been there a year and gained eight points. Its just as well he is very bright and working hard in class otherwise I would be on his back as well as the school. He does need to be pushed though otherwise he would be sloppy with school work too. Is it a boy thing?!

I do wonder this because Cam is very bright too (he may even be the cleverest of the three) but again he needs to be reminded and pushed. Computer restrictions seem to work though - the threat of computer banning or time restrictions seem to make them think twice. Take my boys computers away from them and they would be two very unhappy boyses..........

Isn't this weather a bummer?! I am desperately feeling the need for a bit of sun. A bit of Vit E to make you feel a little better and perk you up a bit. Fingers crossed for August and a sunny Looe........

Thought I would leave you with this little piccy of Abi holding her dwarf hamster. These are quick little fellas and once you have hold you have to grip tight. Remember the incident a couple of months back where one got away and we had to take part of the kitchen ceiling down to get her?!?! Not sure if this is the one of the three, but they are soooo cute.............

I feel lots better even though this cough still catches me now and again. Jake went back to school last week and its still lingering with him. Mind you, because he suffers from asthma, every cough takes a while to shift.

I am so looking forward to our holiday in August. Back down to Looe for a week. I started planning my shoppie two years ago this month and have had one weeks holiday in all that time. I soooo need a break. Its nigh on impossible to switch off when you work from home and a week away is more than due. There will be no craft related anything going with me! Just a few clothes and some books. Oh, and hubbie, kids and the dog of course....... Fingers crossed that the weather improves by then!

Darren started a new job this week which is much nearer to home. It also means I can drop him off and have the car. Its not bothered me, not having the car, because we live quite central and I can walk to wherever I need to go, hence the decision to just have one car. But now that I have the car I am beginning to appreciate that extra freedom that having one gives you. Soooo another car might be on the horizon as I think Darren will have to have one for work, but I don't want to go back to not having one. We'll see.

Was busy with CJ's and other bits and crafty pieces over the weekend, so will leave you with a couple of pics.......

for a notebook swap on BF - who is going to be lucky enough to get this one then??<img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">

Cult Kids TV Prog CJ on UKS - nearing the end now, only a couple left to do I think!

This was one for DiW on BF, had to do Pink, didn't I!!

Still with a really poorly cough. Had an x-ray today so hopefully that will shed some light on the matter and let us know what is going on.

We are planning a birthday weekend for him as Darren is home so we can all celebrate properly then. Depends on the weather too as to what we do but will see at the weekend, not sure what the forecast is but at the very least we can go to the cinema, that always goes down well.

I don't know where this month has gone - summer's here but where is the sun? I reckon we had our summer in April when it was really hot for a couple of weeks!

I'm not feeling 100% myself at the mo - have a rotten cough. Not quite like Jake's but bad enough for me to feel sorry for myself.

Bought myself some Cherry Liquer, so I am gonna have a tipple or two to see if it will make me feel a bit better <img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0"> , I'm sure it will.........

Not finished but certainly better than a month ago. I hate clutter and mess and the whole house needed a good seeing to, for want of better words........

I have got rid of loads of stuff. I am a bookaholic, but I was realistic and got rid of ones I knew I wasn't going to read or wasn't interested in anymore. Its almost sacrilege to get rid of books, but combined with the boys library that they had in their room we have got rid of over one hundred, and thats not including the fifty odd I got rid of a couple of months ago.

Sorted lots of household paperwork too. This had piled up to ridiculous proportions but its all now contained in a metal box. Ooooh, it don't have make you feel better when your house feels lighter and in turn so does your mind. Still more to do but its getting there!

Jake has been poorly since half term with an awful cough and he sometimes coughs til he is sick. I thought it was getting a little better but I was sat here last night at about 10.15pm when Jake shot past me with his hands cupped to his mouth. There was a trail from the bathroom (which is downstairs), through the kitchen, through the dining room, up the stairs across the landing and into the boys bedroom of lovely orange coloured sick.

Now you are going to think I am mean cos I really moaned at him. Not for being sick though, cos he couldn't help that, but for two other reasons. One, when the kids are ill they have a sick bowl. These are plastic pudding bowls which we then can just throw away and we have a supply of them for just this reason.........well you have to don't you when you have kids. Despite constant nagging, Jake didn't have one with him. Second, if you are going to be sick I think its best to stay where you are and perhaps be sick on something that can be washed, if nothing more convenient is nearer, instead of leaving a trail across every bit of carpet we have in the house.

I am not the worlds best sick clear-uperer as I end up gagging myself and usually Darren is the sick cleaner, but he was at work. So it was left to me. It does seem however much you clean, scrub and disinfect, carpet smells of sick for ages. I am soooo tempted to just rip it up and throw away. We don't have carpet downstairs just up the stairs and in the bedrooms, but I can smell it and I hate it. Yuk......bleugh......gag.......

Anyways, now that I have put you off your brekkie, I have to get these kids moving and sorted for school........<img src="/img/smilies/icon_mrgreen.gif" alt=":>>" class="middle" border="0">

  Comments

ssshhh.......its a secret.......

It was our friend, Pete's birthday last Sunday so we had arranged to go and see John Shuttleworth at the Bromsgrove Artrix.

John Shuttleworth, aka Graham Fellows, is very original and funny, in small doses. Darren thinks he is fab, I think he is OK. He sang Jilted John in the late seventies - you might remember him for that, if you are as old as me.........

Anyway, as John Shuttleworth, he sits with his organ (ahem, musical organ) and sings little ditties inbetween banter about all sorts ranging from his friend Ken to his wife Mary. He is very good but I have to say two hours is plenty for me.............

We did have a lovely Indian meal afterwards though. Its amazing that this one was open til midnight on a Sunday. Saying that though we were the only ones in there! Food was gorgeous though. So in all a good evening and I would love to go to the theatre or go to shows a bit more often. Defo an age thing isn't it. The theatre never used to appeal but it does now..............

Watched The Secret last night and can honestly say that of you can apply The Secret to your everyday thinking it could really change your life. I have the book too and must admit to thinking a little differently now and trying to apply it. In some ways I did anyway, but I think I will up it a gear and get what I really want out of life. For those of you who don't know what The Secret is then I am not going to tell you - cos its a secret.

In a nutshell, The Secret is the Law of Attraction. Whatever your predominant thought is, that is what you attract into your life. So, positive thinking is the key and focussing on what you have to be grateful for, so that you get more of it.

I love this quote and its so true:

'Whether you think you can or think you can't, either way you are right.'
Henry Ford,(1863-1947)

In other words, if you go into something thinking you can do it, you can get it, you can become it - then you will. Go into things saying I can't - then you won't. I truly believe this and positive thinking is the way I think anyway. I really believe positive vibes attracts more positive and likewise with negative.

So now I am going to have a few daily mantras - yet to be finalised and put into a short sentence. But if I can focus on these on a daily basis and not just read words but truly believe and visualise, then I really am on the way to having the life I want and deserve.

This applies to us all - so go get the book and I defy you not to be inspired..........

Have been busy though. Started bumper bargains on the shop and they have been selling well although it took ages to sort out and there are still more to come. Some days just packing orders has literally taken me all day and its left little time for anything else! Not complaining though........ I also spent last weekend sorting out some paperwork and whilst that it sooo much better, its still not finished and completely up to date. I will be so glad when I am on top of that, its such a boring job but gotta be done! *yawn*

This past week saw the release of our second kit. Such a lot of preparation goes into this, not just me but for Di too. Even though I put more kits together this month, they still were sold out within 24 hours. How fab is that! They have been very well received too, so its great that other people think they are great too! And to those of you who buy the BF Kits - you are going to love next months too. Di, bless her, is ahead of herself which, in turn, should mean that I am too provided I don't leave the sorting out til the last minute! Its amazing what Di can do with some cardstock and paper.....

Whilst typing this I am scoffing some brekkie. I am addicted to this particular breakkie cereal at the moment. Its Tesco Maple and Pecan Crisp. I add a sprinkling of Pecan nuts too and the whole taste is just scrumyum. Maple Syrup and Pecan nuts soooo go together. I can also kid myself that is a healthy way to start the day cos I have added more nuts........but in reality its quite high in fat for a cereal - prob the maple syrup......

Oh dear, Darren has just took Sam for a walk and its just started to rain - shame. Darn it, I wanted to get some washing dry today and I think Darren wanted to potter in the garden. He has taken on the role of gardener with gusto this year. He has always hated doing anything in the garden, and other than the hard manual work, the gardening was left to me. That all kinda went out the window when I started the shop and last year the garden was badly neglected cos I just didn't have time. Its a huge garden too - about 225 feet long so it takes a bit of work. This year though Darren has transformed the garden and he is actually enjoying doing it. He is a tidy freak too so the garden is very neat at the moment.

That does have its drawbacks though - he went out the front of the house to trim a climbing plant that goes up the front of the house. It has grown all of a sudden and was threatening to pull the BT cable off the front of the house, so I suggested it could do with a trim. Well this 'trim' developed into a full blown cull. I had some mature heathers and ivy growing on the little wall along the driveway and as this climbing plant had entangled itself into all of that as well as climbing up the house, when Darren 'trimmed' the whole driveway ended up being trimmed. Well I say trimmed - its gone from a lovely mature pathway border to a bare nothing border. He got rid of the lot. I should have guessed really, when he goes outside with his cutty tool thingie he ends up hacking away at anything and everything. My butterfly bush ended up becoming a stub.

Anyways, at least it means I don't have to do the garden. When I have time I enjoy it but when I don't its a burden, so I am glad he is enjoying his little self.

We popped to the garden centre yesterday just to pick up a hanging basket to the give the front of the house a lift cos it now looks so bare *grrr*, and managed to find a lovely one that should see us through the summer.......

and look at these little pansy faces.......

Darren just laughed at me 'why are you putting a pic of a hanging basket on your blog?'
'Cos its nice', I said
'well whose going to want to see that' he laughed
'shut up' I said.

Humph, I thinks its lubberly and its a small replacement for all the plants he butchered..........

Decided mid-week to change Bubbly Funk a little bit. Instead of being a general craft store I am going to specialise in Chipboard and associated items - like paint, ink, embellies, etc. So still stocking loads but mainly chipboard. And thats cos I love it and I always like to be a little different to everyone else.

So I am busy with a Sale on BF at the mo. Lots of bundles of stock and more to come. Then I can focus. Quite happy with the decision that has been swimming around in my head for a while. Fingers crossed for me..........

Last week we had a little baby birdie fly into the kitchen. Darren picked him up and he wasn't making any attempt to fly away. Could see his little leg was a bit funny, so wasn't sure if he had been hurt. We popped him onto the roof of the sumerhouse with some soaked bread and after about 10 minutes he did fly off, bless him. Managed to get a couple of good photos of him though. My Dad says he thinks its a Grey Tit.

So pleased with how these photos turned out. The close up is really sharp and the one of the bird in the tree was taken so quickly, before he flew away, that I am suprised its in focus at all.

Joined an online photography course this past week, which is over ten weeks and in that time I am hoping to be able to make better use of my camera. A year on and I am still only using Auto and Macro. Shameful.

We had to take a portrait pic of ourselves as part of the intro and I hate pics of me. Don't do photos of me at all. Hundred photos later and there was just one that was passable. I'll show you here now and you prob won't see another pic of me for a long time - aren't you glad.........

Friday I went to have a facial (my best fwend is a beauty therapist) and then we went shopping in town. Our first port of call is always a coffee, where we then natter for about hour and half, and then its a mad dash around the shops! I did manage to pick up something for myself though. I have been humming and harring about these for a while and after reading so much good press about them I decided to get myself a pair.........

They are sooooooo comfortable. I love the little bobbly bits where your feet rest, and they are so light and airy. Fabbaroonydinkalicious.....as we Bubbly Funkers would say....

Love the flower Jibbetz too, so many to choose from. Cats, dogs, ladybirds, letters, ooooh loads.

Saturday was nice and chillin' too (really can't afford to spend two whole days away from the shop , but I did!). Darren took the boys to the Malvern Hills for a long walk up to British Camp and then they went swimming. Abi was in town with a friend. And I was on my own, well except for Sam keeping me company, of course.

I had all good intentions of getting down to some serious crafting but I had to sort and tidy my desk and surrounding area, sort and put away some gorgeousness new stock that arrived from the US on Friday. Once I'd finished drooling over all that it left me little time to get on, but I did manage to make a start on some ATC's whose deadline has loomed.......and I must get on today too.

We have decided to watch '24' right from the beginning, its one of those programmes I wished I had followed from the start, but we have got series one so at about 9pm we settled down to watch a couple of episodes. 1am and four episodes later we decide its really time for bed! Cool programme, can't wait to see more now.

Each episode is an hour long (roughly) and plays in real time, so as we watch 10 minutes, that is ten minutes of the goings-on in Jack Bauers life, iyswim. I do like Keifer Sutherland........ So, if you haven't watched any and like good guy action then take a squizz.

Today, as its a Sunday and Darren is home, I am doing a roast beef dinner - yummo - and will get on with some crafting me thinks. Lovely sunny day again too by the looks of things, so I might allow myself 10 minutes of chill time along the way too........

I do miss them though and I do so hate routine. Watching the clock and the school run......blah.....roll on the summer holidays!

Monday saw the release of Bubbly Funk's first monthly kit. Put together by fabbydabby Di O, it has been a real hit! The Extras Kit was sold out within a couple of hours and a couple of days on and I only have two left..........get yours before its too late.........

Had a nice weekend. Went for a meal Sunday lunchtime to celebrate my Mum's birthday and also managed to get the kids new trainers while we were all in town. The boys hate shopping and I don't particularly like taking then either! They want to go get what we came down for, no more than that, and then go home. At least when I come with Abi we have a good mooch around. Shopping is definately a girl thing.

I have to go grocery shopping today, I have been dredging the depths of the freezer and cupboards to put off going as long as possible and it has been 12 days since I last went, so not done too bad. I like doing that from time to time cos you have to use stuff that you usually push to the back and, even though the kids have been without crisps for about five days now, they have been OK. They haven't spontaneously combusted through lack of junk and their crisp fix. Its all good........

I was a bit of a ickle piggy last night. Jake sold me (yes, sold!) one of his Easter Eggs - only the egg, he'd already had the choc that came with it. Apparently, after he had eaten all he wanted, he said he doesn't like chocolate that much so wanted to sell his eggs - he would rather have the money. So I bought an egg off him. Now this egg has been lying on my desk uneaten for a few days. And its been taking up space. So I sat in the front room with my milky coffee and this egg and ate the lot in one sitting. Cos I needed the space on my desk you understand. Felt a bit sick though.....

Ooooh, a parcel of goodies has arrive. So I am off to open it up and ooooh and aaah at its papery goodness.........

Please feel free to leave again!

Just to say as well, you can leave your Blog URL's at the end of the comment you leave, as it will convert url's automatically and then people can follow on from your link if they want to.

Phew, I feel drained today. Such a lot going on at the moment with the shop, trying to get up to date with crafty things (yup, still) and the monthly kit release on Monday. So excited about that and Di has worked so hard sorting out a lovely kit for you all. That is going well already and even based on the little sneeky peeks I have had orders coming in aready! Amazing!

Don't it look fab! For those of you interested take a look {here} and treat yourself.....go on!! Limited stocks..........

Darren did a spiffing job on the garden over the Easter break. I actually had a couple of days off from the shop and relaxed - it was bloomin' marvelous and I thoroughly enjoyed myself, minimum computer and max sun - just the ticket! Plus lots of choccie over the weekend. Not that anyone bought me an egg but the kids had plenty and so I had to help them out a little, didn't I!!

Anyway, feeling tired now and I really must stop for today and try and wind down........deep breath........and relaxxxxx.......

We made a start on the loft yesterday. As soon as I finished packing orders and had been to the Post Office I was helping hoist huge boxes of alsorts of stuff from the loft.

We have been in this house for ten years in August and it has been a gradual accumulation of 'things' over that time. We used to do some car boots to get rid of stuff, but haven't done one for a few years now and with Darren's shift patterns he only gets one weekend off in every three so didn't want to be spending a valuable Sunday morning at a car boot.

So, a few hours later and we had boxed up about ten large boxes of things we didn't want. This consisted of kids games, toys, cuddlies (although Abi really couldn't bare to part with any of them), handbags, shoes, ornaments, crockery, curtains, records, puzzles.............ooooh the list goes on.

Darren advertised on the local Freecycle site for someone to collect a huge amount of car boot items and within minutes he had about thirty replies! Anyway, by 8pm someone had come and taken the lot - wonderful! If someone can make money from it then great.

We have only just scratched the surface though, and they may well be another load for someone to pick up today too! I blame Darren, he is such a hoarder - although he would say its me.

I did manage to salvage a few bits that I could see had potential crafty uses - some girly playing cards, some glittery threads and a pot I painted years ago and would now come in very handy for pens and brushes. So I didn't do too bad out of it!

I originally went to buy some Crocs for comfiness around the house, but as soon as I spied these in the window I knew I just had to have them.

Twice the price but twice as nice. There are few things that instantly grab me, but when something does, I mither about it until I have it, so I got them straight away. I spied a really nice bag that would go with them but that had to wait......and now I'm mithering about it.

When the weather is sunny they feel lovely to wear, nice and bright and fitting for the weather. But when it is dull and miserable, then I can't wear them cos there is a constant flash of orange as I walk and they seem too bright for the day, iyswim!!

I love shoes, always have, and that love spreads to handbags too. I don't like ordinary shoes, or strappy girlie, high-heeled things. I like different.........

I forgot about it until I woke up Sunday morning and I had already had a lie-in. Then to find it was really an hour ahead was a real bummer. Would rather lose an hours sleep than a precious hour in my day. I keep looking at the clock expecting it to be a certain time and find I am about an hour behind! Funny that, how your body kinda knows what the time is. I'm sure it will catch up at some point...........

It was Cam's turn to feel unwell this weekend. He's had a real sore throat, bless him, and he hasn't been his normal self. He curled up on the chair next to mine, next to the fire. Chatting away I was, then I turned round to see this little snuggly face poking out from behind a blanket, gently snoring. Midday too, a sure sign they are not 100%, when they have to nap in the middle of the day.

I was sorting through some stuff hidden away on a top shelf and came across these dough shapes I made about two years ago. Hard baked in the oven, they have lasted well and I think they look kinda cool. I have a few of these hearts, stars and little beads threaded onto ribbon and dotted around the house around draw handles and door knobs. I love that kind of look - Shaker style. Must get and do something with the rest of them.........

Its been a lovely day today - a lovely Spring day, blue sky, lots of sunshine but still with a nip in the air. Beautiful. I ate my lunch outside today - cheese sarnies and cheese & onions crisps - how lovely is that, chewing grub whilst lifting your face to the sun . Bit chilly now though.

I took this picture of my apples today - thought they looked ever so crisp and fresh, just right for Spring. Pleased with how it turned out as well. Not bad for Auto with Macro on - ha! Learnt a lot in the year I've had this camera, I have..........

Darren was great over the weekend though. It was his weekend off and he looked after me lovely, bless him. Had some gorge flowers off the kids for Mothers Day and Abi bought me something just from her too. A fabbie notebook and some scrummy choccies. I had a hand-made card from all of them too - I love that don't you. Can't beat a handmade card off your kids.......

I had a completely relaxing day Sunday - put my feet up at about 3ish and then didn't move til it was time to go to bed. Unheard of for me. Sat and watched Meet Joe Black - my fave film of all time, and then caught up with Lost and Prison Break. How flippin' nice it was to just relax and not think about the shop for a day. Even though I do wub my shoppie, it is nice to have a break.

Finished my Fashion ATC's for Bubbly Funk last week. So ahead of time its scary. Thats not to say that I am efficient and up to date in everything though! Wish I were........

Not that it weighs much, but you get the gist.

Instead of having lots of pieces of paper with lists and reminders on, I can just pop a couple of words on the board to remind me. It works a treat. Then when I have done it I can rub it off. Job done.

I managed to do another CJ layout this past weekend. I am virtually up to date with that sort of thing now and I can concentrate of my A-Z Christmas Journal and Emily's weekly ATC challenge. Bit of catching up to do there - but I will.........

Anyway, this CJ layout is for Chris's CJ on Bubbly Funk. This was 'Elements of Me', and its a layout full of bits but I like a busy layout, not too nice and neat.

I went to Tescos yesterday to do the weekly shop and I ended up forgetting a fair few of the essentials. Actually not forgotten so many things before, and most of them basics. Tut, tut - I am on another planet of late I am sure. My head is so full of stuff I don't know whether I am coming or going. Could do with a holiday I think..........

Darren actually reckoned I was on my way to getting old and hormonal, so I thought right.......I now have the excuse to do and say weird and wacky things if I want and just blame it on my hormones.....LOL cheeky bugger.............whats his excuse then?!

I just need to get organised I think, and I am certainly heading in the right direction with getting craft committments done ahead of time. Mind you it doesn't help when I order some new stock and then it ends up that about two thirds of it is out of stock or the wrong thing turns up or not at all! Just a little bit extra to sort out and extra phone calls to make.

Nothing is ever straight forward, I guess life's like that.......

  Comments

I live in a CJ world.......

Ooooh, where has the time gone!! I did three CJ layouts this past weekend. My weekend, of late, are taken up with catching up with crafty bits. My bum didn't leave my seat all weekend. Well, thats what it felt like.

All three were for CJ's on UKS. Two were for the Retailers Cj - have none for ages and then they all come together.........but I am now up to date. This one was the theme of 'Scraplifts', and I did Claudine Hellmuth. Love her wacky style and enjoyed doing this.

The other Retailer one was 'Experience Random'. This is where you do a layout on any random thought, feeling, etc that you may have. Someone had done 'Why is an Orange orange', and 'are zebras black with white stripes, or white with black stripes'! Had to think about this one and the more I thought about the less random it became, iyswim!! Anyway, whilst I wasn't even thinking about it I came up with 'How old is old?!'

I am also doing a CJ on UKS with the theme of Kids Cult TV - mine being The Magic Roundabout. Every CJ has a theme within this so that every book you get you have to do a layout for the theme and include something from your chosen TV programme in it. At the end we should then get a book with about 10 different Cult TV characters in. Sounds complicated, but its not. Examples are also The Flumps, Playschool, Button Moon, etc. This is one I did for the Winnie the Pooh CJ and the theme was 'Who would you be lost in 100 Aker Wood with?!'

So, now I only have two CJ entries to do at the moment, but they are not due yet. Would be nice to get them done in advance for once though! Hmmm, maybe........

Isn't the weather lovely. Still a bit nippy though. Makes me laugh, see a bit of sunshine and you see people walking about in t-shirts. Still too cold for t-shirts, if you ask me.

  Comments

PG Tips freebie

I just love this little chimp. Buy PG Tips Tea and get him free. Abi has been pleading with me to have this, but I am determined to keep him. He's all mine. Have you got yours yet?!

Not that I got many nor did I see anything particularly inspiring, which was disappointing. I can count on one hand the things I liked and will consider following up, but never mind. I always seem to find interesting bits myself. One thing I will prophesise is going to be big over the coming months is felt. Felt beads, felt flowers, felt anything........you read it hear first don't forget....

Darren, bless him, followed me around without one single moan. He had his MP3 player and so was able to listen to the radio and music whilst I pondered over things and chatted.

I have lots of pottering about on the site to do today. Articles need putting on, events need to go on the calendar, I have some stock to put on and CJ's to do!! Too much to do and not enough time.

Felt a bit fed up in the week, must admit. I rarely have 'me' time, even the craft committments I have are rushed cos they are last minute. I would love to be in advance and be able to take my time but at the same time be on top of everything. Wouldn't we all though........... ........I did actually manage to do my ATC's with a couple of days to spare, which is very unusual for me. It felt good too........

One thing I did do in the week and which I was pleased about was sort out a menu for the week. I now have a menu pinned up on the board in the kitchen of what the meals are going to be right up until Wednesday. No more 'whats for tea?' and me replying 'don't know yet' or 'pooh on a stick' .........all they need to do is look at the board and they can see. Makes it so much easier for us all. Planning in advance means that less is spent food shopping - time-wise and money-wise. Hoping to keep this up indefinately.......

Abi is rushing round, getting ready for her shopping trip to Birmingham with the girls next door. Bit nervous about her going into such a huge shopping area, but those apron strings will only stretch so far and the girls next door are both in their 20's, so will keep a good eye on her I've no doubt. She is looking forward to it and its quite an adventure for her, bless. She's managed to con a bit of extra money out of her Dad and me, so she'll be in shopping heaven. I, on the other hand, will be a taddly bit worried until she comes back........

  Comments

I must be bananas......

My weekends just fly by in a flurry of creativeness, don't ya know....... It is the only time I get to catch up on crafty committments - not that I ever catch up.........

Managed to do two CJ layouts this weekend which is pretty good going cos they do take ages. The planning and running ideas through my head takes a time too and these CJ's have been worked and re-worked through my mind several times before being put to paper. But more often than not I am pleased with what I have done.

One I did for a Retailers CJ that I am doing on UKS. The theme of this one was 'Me and My Shop'. That was fun to do and makes me realise what I have achieved in such a short time really........

I also finished one for Bubbly Funk. This one has been going round for a few months and it will be great to have mine back! This is one for Linda's CJ 'The Meaning of Names'.......

Made a scrummy cake too.......Banana Loaf. This is sooooo easy to make and is really moist and moorish......yum.......

4oz butter
6oz sugar
8oz self raising flour
2 eggs
couple drops of vanilla essence
4 over-ripe bananas

Mash bananas, add to the other ingredients and mix well. Put into loaf tin and cook on medium heat for 40-50 minutes. After about 30 minutes cover top of cake with foil so it doesn't burn. Voila....yum yum.......

Going to the NEC tomorrow for the Craft Trade Show which is held every year. Only going for a few hours though, we have to get back to pick Cam up from school besides which it is very tiring. Darren is taking me and is also my catalogue carrier - a very important position. Don't think he's particularly looking forward to it though. Guess it would be like dragging round after him whilst he is looking at computer components or something like.

I'm mithering now about what to wear. Must be comfy - don't do uncomfortable high-fashion any more, I want comfortable. Must wear comfy shoes too for all that walking round. Also have to think about the temperature. Might be mid-winter but it gets ever so hot in there. Don't want to be carrying excess baggage either. Oh what to do?! - flippin' 'eck, its only for a few hours, whats the matter with me........

Anyway TTFN, think of me tomorrow having to ogle all the new crafty bits that could be coming your way.........tough job, but someone has to do it.

I prepared a Leek and Potato soup that then simmered away in the slow cooker until tea-time. I baked Cheese and Onion rolls to go with it............mmmmmm.....

I also made a yummy Chocolate Chip Cake.

After tea we all had a slice and I left the other half on the kitchen worktop towards the back. Sam, our dog, is usually very good and wouldn't dream of nicking food off the worktop cos he knows he's not allowed.

We were all in the front room and Sam saunters in licking his lips. I know instinctively what he has done. I tell everyone else, we go into the kitchen and low and behold. No cake. Now this cake was massive and he had scoffed the half that was left. There were just a few crumbs left on the plate and floor. How he managed to grab the cake without pulling the plate down, I don't know!

We were worried though because of the amount of chocolate in the cake and knowing it can be toxic to dogs. But he seemed OK. Although his stomach has been playing up a little since - *phew*....

The funny thing is, he would have had to lean over the remaining bread rolls to get to the cake, so he knew what he wanted! Cheeky bugger....

Managed to complete one of the many CJ layouts I have to do. This one has the theme of Christmas. I did this when we had the snow so I could really imagine it was Christmas again..........

I have had some lovely stock arrive and I am now going to bury myself in a sea of scrummy chipboard.......here's a sneaky peek.......

It started in the early hours of Thursday morning and by the time we all got up there was several inches! School was cancelled, so we went out into the garden - I was armed with my camera to take a few photos and the kids were instructed, on pain of death, not to throw a snowball at me! I know that Jake, in particular, would have found this extremely hard to do .

Here's a few I took, one of Sam playing with his ball in the snow - you might just be able to see it between his front paws. He loves the snow and was actually springing around like a little lamb, rolling in it, eating it......so funny to see.

We had some breakfast and then headed for the huge playing field located at the bottom of the garden. It has got two slopes that are great for sliding down and was already bustling with kids and adults making the most of the rare snow.

There's one pic of Cam chasing his bin bag - which they all used to slide down on. We have snow so rarely that it never seemed worth buying sledges, until, of course, when we do have snow and then you wish you had one! Everywhere local sold out pretty quickly though. But a big bag slides just fine........if you can keep hold of it of course!!

Managed to catch a nice pic of Abi whilst she was walking back up the slope........

and this is one of Abi doing a Snow Angel on the trampoline in the garden. It amazes me that they really aren't bothered about being wet and cold.....

The kids have loved the past couple of days but today it has been raining reducing the soft, fluffy snow into wet, yukky slush.......at least I have a few photos for memories......

This lovely little dwarf rabbit had a particular liking for our next door neighbour's homegrown cabbages and lettuces and would make regular escapes out of his large cage only then to be found chomping on next doors growing veg.

It got a bit embarassing because they are lovely neighbours and never moaned about it but it really must have been a nuisance for them. So by way of apology I came up with a poem which we gave to our neighbours and which they greatly appreciated.

Just happened upon it the other day, lurking amongst the cobwebs of one of my hard drives.......

I’m Sorry

My name is Raindrop
I’m the rabbit next door
I know you are annoyed with me
more and more
But I love cabbages
what more can I say
Their very cabbageness
makes my day
But I have promised Abigail
that I will no more
Go through the hedge to
next door
I’ll be a good rabbit
just you see
Please accept my apology…..

(Caroline-2001)

Abi was having a sleepover and they decided it would be fun to watch the three little cuties scurry around in the hamster ball. Her friend had hold of one whilst transferring from cage to ball and then, as quick as a flash the little blighter escaped.

One of my earlier posts gives a piccie of these little hammys and they really are the cutest things but oh so quick, they don't hang around. This little hammy was off and under the airing cupboard door, which is in Abi's room. So three panicy teenage girls amidst a cool Dad and a perplexed Mum - search as we might no sign of her. The airing cupboard has pipes leading down to under the floorboards and she was certainly small enough to fit through any little gap.

Oh what to do?

'We'll have to make a hole in the kitchen ceiling (under Abi's room) and hope she comes out there. Otherwise we have to take up all of Abi's floor' says Dad.
'Oh', says me desperately wanting to do everything to find and save this little hammy but I have to admit I was also thinking 'oh flippin' 'eck - a nice big hole in the ceiling!'

So, the following day Darren makes a hole in the ceiling. To be honest I think he quite enjoyed doing this - destruction, albeit on a small scale, pleases any man I am sure. The hole is big enough to get a torch in and have a good look around - no sign.

We left bits of food and water to entice her out and we covered the hole with a sagging piece of polythene with cheese and a grape in the centre so that if she is tempted with the munchies she will be able to get to the food but the polythene will be too saggy and slippy for her to get out.

You will not believe this......we have managed to catch her!! She went for the bait in the slippy plastic and couldn't get back up!! She is now safely back with her two little sisters running round together in the wheel. Thank goodness.

Abi had been so upset that I did wonder if it would scar her for life because she was blaming herself. Now she is the happiest teenager this side of the M5. Darren now has the job of repairing the ceiling............

  Comments

Super Woman........ta daaaaaa

I am really quite pleased with myself. I am getting up of a morning, seeing the kids off to school and then 'til about 10.30ish I am doing housework. This is before I even switch my computer on because I know once its on I will be hooked into work, work, shop, blogs, forums, emails, work, etc and then the day has gone and the house is still a mess.

This way the house is done before the computer goes on and then I have the whole day to compute to my hearts content. I am even having time to put something into the slow cooker to simmer away all day until tea time.

Today we had leek and potato soup - well more of a broth really cos its quite thick but ever so nice....yummy..... I feel every so organised, efficient and like super-woman when I am on top of things. Hope it lasts..........

This weekend will see me crafting my big bootie off as I do have quite a bit to do in the way of ATC's, CJ's and the Christmas Journal. Want to make a start on Emily's Art Journal too. Made some ATC's last week for a swap on BF - Butterflies. These were my contibutions for the two swaps........

Do you know, we had a butterfly come into the house over Christmas and it settled upstairs. Didn't have the heart to make it go outside in the cold. Stayed inside for ages and then one day it was gone.......

Hasn't it got cold......brrr.... still no snow here though much to the kids disgust. They would love some time off school to mess about in the snow. Rarely get snow though which doesn't bother me too much but the kids, and that includes Darren, would love it.

Bought these gorgeous hot pink tins from Matalan last week, only £3 each. They are sitting on my desk looking ever so pinky. Not sure yet what to fill them with.....any ideas?

Here's just a sneaky shot of my daughter Abi, with a sullen teenage scowl 'cos she didn't want her piccie taken. Bless her heart she is absolutely wonderful most of the time and very good natured but you wouldn't think so by looking at this. Sorry for the quality - was taken in poor artificial light.......

1. Grab the book closest to you.
2. Open to page 123, go down to the fourth sentence.
3. Post the text of the following three sentences on your blog.
4. Name of the author, and book.

Steve: I can't even begin to answer that. Once again, you claim that you've read that they like to get in jars. I mean, how do they know that octopuses like to get in jars?

Ricky Gervais presents The World of Karl Pilkington

I bought this book for Darren in the January sales. He has flicked through it, Abi has read it from front cover to back and I have it sat on my desk and I flick through it when I fancy a break with a cuppa. I have listened to all the podcasts with Ricky, Steve and Karl on and they are hilarious.

Another book I have sat on my desk and which has been staring at me for a couple of weeks is

Scraps - Adventures in Scrapbooking by Wendy Bagley.

Its about a womans obsession with scrapbooking and her relationship with it and those around her. The read-up sounds quite funny - gonna start on this one tonight and will let you know what its like. I haven't read a good book for ages........

Its Alphabet Funk {B} Inspiration tomorrow and Di has done a fabby crafty project - remember to go and have a look.

  Comments

Who am I?........

Letter {B} is on Alphabet Funk now - take a sneaky peeky if you haven't already.

I am pretty sure I am going to get stuck along the way with Christmasy things for certain letters. I think I am OK with 'C' - candles, choir, carols (any more) and then for 'D' there is decorations, ummmm, ummmm,.....OK this is where I need your help.

Between letters C-E can you please give suggestions. I am planning on doing several pages and words per letter so your help would be greatly appreciated!!

Made a good start on my Christmas Journal over the weekend - almost finished the cover and then had to jump straight to B to get it on the Blog for Sunday nothing like last minute is there!

If you remember waaaaay back to October, I reached the grand old age of 40. I bought myself a book titled 'Things to do before you're 40.....'. Just opened at a random page and the first thing that hits me is:

Describe your personality in a paragraph or two.

Ok then, here goes.

I am kind and generous and will help where I can. I am a good listener but not much of a talker. I like quiet and so too much noise bothers me and I can get quite angry about it! SHUT UP....purlease.... I have a good sense of humour and like a good laugh. If I feel wronged I will bear a grudge indefinately and can forgive but don't forget. I can be quite impatient and when I want something I want it NOW! My fave colour is Pink and Pink is the spiritual colour of Love......I am lucky enough to be surrounded by love every day.

I am gonna pose this question to some of my bloggy mateys - Di and Rosie.....its coming your way.

Don't forget those Christmassy Alphabet suggestions peeps..........
